Inter Miami, representing MLS as the host club in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, will be led by Lionel Messi. This was revealed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino following Inter Miami's 2024 Supporters' Shield triumph, emphasizing the team's accomplishments and fervent supporter base in Florida.


Since he will be leading Inter Miami in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Lionel Messi is anticipated to participate in another World Cup. Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami will serve as the tournament's host club, FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed.

At Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Inter Miami had just won the 2024 Supporters' Shield, Infantino made this announcement. Setting a new record for the most points in a single season in Major League Soccer, the club defeated the New England Revolution 6-2.

 

Infantino acknowledged the tremendous support that Inter Miami has throughout Florida and expressed his respect for the club's performance.

"You have demonstrated that you are the best club on the field of play in the United States on a regular basis. Thus, the FIFA president was reported by ESPN India as stating, "As one of the greatest clubs in the world, I am proud to announce that you are deserved participants in the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as the host club representing the United States."

32 teams from throughout the globe will compete in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which is the first time the championship has been enlarged from its original seven-team structure.
The competition is slated to take place in multiple locations around the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025. Infantino further declared that on July 15, 2025, Inter Miami would host the inaugural game at Hard Rock Stadium.


He said that the occasion, which would bring together the top clubs, players, coaches, and supporters, would be a significant celebration of club football worldwide.

 

Messi, who moved to Inter Miami in 2023, will be crucial to the South Florida team's success in this esteemed competition. Messi will get the chance to play against some of the best teams in the world once more, with teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and others already confirmed.
